[Re]Configured Threads: Rethinking Use and Aesthetics in Textile Waste
From April 9-12 2025, my solo curatorial debut was presented at Galerie D.
The exhibition presented an alternative perspective for clothing consumers to find newness in reconfiguration, rather than in buying new. It began with objects styled functionally, how they’d be used in the home – bookends flanking your favorite novels, trinket dishes collecting small treasures, and candle holders as centerpieces for your table. As you continued through the space, visitors explored the process of working with mycelium. From what mycelium is, to what it eats and how it grows, visitors were invited to engage their senses with the biodesign process. The life of our clothing doesn’t have to end when it stops functioning as clothing. In fact, that could be just the beginning of a garment’s life.
