Qui Cherche Trouve?
At Paris’ 3537 gallery in Spring 2023, the MA Fashion Studies presented their final projects in the exhibition ‘Qui Cherche Trouve’. Inspired by the titular proverb, the exhibition at large showed various modes of questioning what it means to study fashion; how fashion evolves in times of social upheaval, and why this questioning is urgent.
My section explored the themes of my thesis work entitled “Fashioning Queer: Curatorial Strategies of Orienting Sexuality in the Fashion Museum”. I tasked curators with ‘queering’ their collections by selecting an object that elicited queer narratives by their analysis. This presentation displayed images of those works, thinly veiled by quotes from my thesis’ guiding literature.
